Keller drops me back off at my hotel after two blissful days of freedom...and fuck, I don't want to go back.

Back to the lobby where people gawk at me from the hotel bar. Back past the bodyguards who are annoyed I ran off, into the elevator where a woman holds back for just a few minutes before starting to gush about how much she loves my work.

I'm not an asshole--or at least, I try not to be--so I give her a kind smile and thank her for her kind words, and I mean it, I really do, because my song about my dad getting sick with cancer helped her grieve her own father...

She's in tears when she reluctantly steps out of the elevator, the bodyguard who came in with me glancing at me as if to ask if I'm alright.

And I'm fine. I'm always just fine.

Raelyn is waiting outside my door when I get there, her arms crossed and tapping her toe on the ground. She looks at me over a pair of glasses she usually only wears after she's turned in for the night, her eyebrows raised as I wince.

"Are you mad at me?" I ask as I search for my keycard.

She snorts. "No, I just want you to tell me everything. And...given that you look like you just rolled out of a country western whorehouse, I assume you've got a lot to tell."

I laugh and shake my head as the keycard beeps at the door, and Raelyn comes in after me as I toss my purse on the bed. It's a good thing we didn't have anything with us when we left for Enchanted Rock, otherwise I would have to call the bed and breakfast to get all my stuff back. Raelyn looks at the bag, then at me in my fringe jacket, and puts her hands on her hips.

"Simon told me you were with Keller...and thank you for the single text telling me you were running away with a handsome man," she says. "I really appreciated that."

"Did you really?"

"Yes," she says. "Now seriously...talk to me. What happened? I thought you'd be gone for like...a few hours, not two days."

"Well, I only planned for a few hours when you helped me get over to the planetarium," I say, my breath whooshing out as I take a heavy seat on the bed. "But the planetarium turned out to be a children's museum, and Keller wasn't onboard, so he told me to get in the car."

"And...?"

"We drove to Fredericksburg," I say, biting my lip. "He took me out to Enchanted Rock to see the stars."

"Setting the bar high," she says, gaping at me. "Did you camp or something?"

"Jesus, Rae, can you imagine me camping?"

"No, I absolutely cannot," she laughs. "But Keller seems like the type. You stayed somewhere?"

"This sweet bed and breakfast in Fredericksburg a few minutes away," I nod. "He was going to drive me back to Austin, but I uh...basically jumped his bones."

"And how was he?"

"Amazing," I sigh, falling back on the bed and staring up at the ceiling.
